You don't need to download anything for this week's classes, but here are some questions you should think about. We will be discussing them late on Wednesday or probably Thursday. It's not a writing assignment. Just think about them. I will give you the questions in class.
Why
do
you feel bored? Is
it a lack of anything to do? Or is it caused by your mood?
How
often do you feel bored?
When
are you most likely to feel bored?
Have
you ever felt bored when you were with another person?
How
do you relieve boredom? Do you think easy ways of relieving boredom
can cause you to waste time?
What
are some behaviours to avoid when you are bored? For example, eating
junk food or constantly checking social media.
How
can you help a friend who says they are bored?
What
is the most boring thing you have to do in your life?
What
bores you? Sports? News? Some teachers (no names, please^^)? School?
What
would you do if you met someone who is really boring? On a blind
date, for example.
Does
weather ever make you feel bored? If it's snowing and you can't go
out, for example.
How
would you feel if the Internet suddenly stopped working?
Imagine that you have finally become
a teacher in a secondary school. You think you are doing a good job
but your students look bored. What can you do to make your classes a
little more interesting or keep the students' attention?
Are you bored more now than when you
were a child?
Your parents didn't have Internet
when they were young. How do you think they relieved boredom?
Do you think boredom is necessary?
Do we need to be bored
sometimes?
Do you think feeling bored is a
symptom of a deeper problem?
Think of something that was very
exciting at first, but later became boring. Why did it lose its
appeal?
You might think that this topic is
boring! What would you rather be doing right now?
What do you think your teacher does
when he's bored? Do you think he would rather be doing something else
right now? :)
